Born and raised on a mixed-farming family property at Biloela, Rod has always had a passion for anything connected to the Australian rural industry. For the past 8 years, Rod has worked closely with seed producers to supply the best raw product available. We spoke with Rod about SeedGro becoming part of Agrimix Pastures...
Tell us a little about your background working with Seedgro:
In June 2020, we began SeedGro Pty Ltd to market a wide range of pasture seed varieties throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales. As the National Sales Manager, I was responsible for procuring high-quality raw products from producers, processing, warehousing and delivery of these goods.
We always tried to source the best quality products available to the industry to offer a high grade to the end-user. Like any new business, this was done one brick at a time with a hand on heart that we supply a high-quality product at a competitive price.
Alignments were made with Cropmark Seeds (NZ) to supply their temperate varieties while marketing of products like Progardes® also became available.
This business grew quickly, catching the attention of other industry parties.
Where did the relationship between Seedgro and Agrimix begin?
Agrimix approached Seedgro to help market Progardes into Northern New South Wales and Queensland and we soon saw a great relationship build.
What does the merger mean for Seedgro and Agrimix customers?
We can now offer a complete range of pasture seeds to suit a wide range of environments. Now under one roof, it allows for an improved streamlined supply chain to dispatch and process orders in a timely manner.
What are you most looking forward to achieving in your role as National Sales Manager?
As National Sales Manager, I want to grow the business successfully while maintaining high ethics and quality products to grow the Australian Pasture industry. We have seen recent commodity price increases for Australian farmers, this will in turn bring a demand to improve existing properties to maximise production levels.
